The title of this blog entry was just one of the many creative team names,I came across on the Color Run’s public Facebook page. Who or What is the Color Run you might ask. Well its one of many traveling 5k(3.2 mile) races that takes place across the country and abroad. From coast to coast since its inception in 2012 the Color Run has grown in popularity.
The Color Run hit the DMV (DC, MD AND VA) May 11 and May 18. I had the opportunity to photograph the Baltimore Color Run and participate in the DC event. Both events sold out in record-breaking time! Maryland with 25,000 racers registered and two race time 9am and 2 pm and DC with 5,000 racers start time 9 am.
The idea; A theme 5K run/walk or crawl has spread like a wildfire. I have seen websites for The Electric Run (I’m definitely doing that run), Vampire,Drenched (Registered for that run too),Zombie and Foam to name a few. I think its awesome! if you read my last post you will see a recurring theme. That theme is healthy, active lifestyle. See I’m not just a (what I wore today, while I sit and look oblivious to the camera type of blog) No shade to those who do. I will continue to promote health and fitness as well a fashion.
Please enjoy the photos below the first set are from the Baltimore Color Run. The race took place May 11,2013 at Camden Yards baseball stadium. GO O’s!!! (Yes I rep my city, always and forever)
I wanted to find him after the run

TuTu cute!

- This guy got it the worst, because he was first. I loved how
his assailantthe volunteer is so cool about his task.
The Aftermath… still happy!
Now for the DC 5K Myself along with a few friends hit I-95 bright and early Sunday May 18 for the Colorful festivities. The event took place at The National Harbor. 5,000 health and fitness fanatic braved the temperamental weather. There was Fog, rain and a brisk breeze blowing off the Potomac river. A little rain never stopped our party.
What would this event be without a celebration at the end. The Color toss that is done at the end of the race happens every 10 minute for an hour. I think we took part in at least 3 of the tosses. There was a dance contest, marriage proposal and plenty of music and food to keep the runner happy.
This event was so much fun, messy but nothing a little soap and water can’t cure. This was the first and certainly not the last run I will participate in.
SO… YOU,YEAH YOU! what are you waiting for GET UP, GO OUT and BE ACTIVE. It might save your life!
